課程概述

This is the introduction course of genetics. We will start with the basic principles of transmission genetics, and the molecular basis of inheritance follows. The important concept of population genetics and quantitative genetics will be covered.

The content of this course includes:
1. Mendel’s principle of heredity
2. Extension of Mendelian inheritance
3. The chromosome theory of inheritance
4. Linkage, recombination & the mapping genes
5. DNA structure, replication, and recombination
6. Anatomy and function of a gene
7. Gene expression: the flow of information from DNA to RNA to protein
8. The eukaryotic chromosome
9. Analyzing genomic variation
10. Chromosomal rearrangements and changes in chromosome number
11. Variation and selection in populations
12. Genetics of Complex Traits
 

課程目標
If the students successfully fulfill the course requirement, they will be familiar with the principles and methodologies of genetics and equipped with the essential knowledge to enter the advanced level or genetics related fields. 
課程要求
The students must have taken statistics, general botany, or general biology.
